Picture a payment terminal in a shop. The total on the cashier’s monitor and the total on the customer’s small screen are not the same display, even when they match. The customer’s screen exists because the other one can be wrong, by mistake or on purpose. MaxClaw OS treats a signing session the same way.
The oldest mismatch
A software wallet shows an address in a window. The window is drawn by the computer. If that computer is running something else with the same permissions, the window can show an address the signer did not choose, while the request underneath carries a different one. People have lost keys to that mismatch since before dedicated devices existed. It does not require a novel trick. It requires a display the signer trusts and a machine that is allowed to paint it.
A hardware wallet breaks the trust in half. The computer may still prepare the request. MaxClaw OS parses that request on the device and paints the address itself. The holder is asked to read the metal, not the window. If the two disagree, the window is the one that loses.
Buttons that a script cannot press
A screen without a local decision is only a monitor. On MaxClawOS Wallet the decision is physical. Both stainless buttons, pressed together, approve the session that is currently on the OLED. The left button alone dismisses it and clears the screen. A click inside companion software does not approve anything. The cable does not get a vote.
We kept the control simple because the bench unit in 2021 taught the studio that extra gestures do not get used. People will read one screen and press two buttons. They will not perform a longer ritual, and a ritual nobody performs is not a control.
What this does not fix
The screen cannot help if the holder approves an address they meant to reject. It cannot help if someone is watching over a shoulder and the holder confirms under pressure. It cannot help if the recovery card has already been copied. Those are human limits, and the recovery note is about the last of them.
The screen also does not turn the studio into a party to the session. We do not see the request, we do not see the signature, and we do not sit in the middle. KLA Waterman, LLC does not buy, sell, exchange, or trade crypto assets. The page you are reading is an explanation of a display.
